0217 - water flowing W in Oak Creek, note water-slickened rock and standing water indicating higher flow 0225 - looking NW (telephoto), "knob" is Gano Peak, an igneous intrusion, beyond and to the left of it is a small mesa just beyond which is the junction between the West Road and Maxwell Scenic Drive, the N edge of Burro Mesa is hilly area to left of mesa at about the same distance 1352 - debris from rock falls off Vernon Bailey Peak 1353 - conglomerate-like alluvium exposed by Oak Creek 1354 - looking N toward Vernon Bailey Pk. Linear structure prob due to jointing not dike casagrande-strat - authors disagree on identification of layering. McGookey (Geologic Wonders of W TX) ids what appears to me to be the BMB (34-30 My) as part of Pine Canyon. McCloud (Big Bend Vistas) divides cliff into two with upper half being ash flow tuff (EP?) and bottom Lost Mine. Spearing (Roadside Geology of TX) ids layers only as either rhyolite or basalt. Looks like material between my BMB and PC on left (N) side of peak, which would be Chisos. I see no reason to divide cliff in two. Burro Mesa Rhyolite --> Emory Peak Rhyolite, quartz-bearing rhyolitic ash-flow tuffs, 32 Ma. A series of E and NE trending dikes of chemically identical rock cut through Chisos Fm and younger rocks. Wasp Spring Flow Breccia and Lost Mine Rhyolite --> Boot Rock Member, quartz trachyte to rhyolite lavas, ignimbrites, and maar surge deposits, ~32 Ma Brown Rhyolite --> Pine Canyon Rhyolite, ignimbrite that formed Pine Canyon Caldera, 33-32 Ma
